GUWAHATI: Rohit Sharma has become the first player to hit 100 sixes at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, adding a new milestone to his Indian Premier League (IPL) career. This was achieved during a recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, when Sharma sent a delivery from Mohammed Shami over the boundary.

The achievement now places Sharma among an exclusive group of IPL batters who have crossed the 100-sixes mark at a single venue. The others include Virat Kohli (130), Chris Gayle (127), and AB de Villiers (118) — all of whom reached the feat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. At Wankhede, Kieron Pollard trails behind Rohit with 85 sixes.
Sharma entered the match as an impact substitute and made a quick impact, scoring 26 runs off 16 deliveries. His innings included three sixes, pushing him past the three-figure mark for maximums at the ground.
Overall, Rohit now ranks second in the list of all-time IPL six-hitters, with 286 sixes in 263 matches. He remains behind Chris Gayle, who leads the tally with 357 sixes from fewer games.
However, despite the milestone, Sharma’s form this season has reflected a pattern of starts without substantial conversions.
