GUWAHATI: A massive fraud case has been lodged against 15 individuals, including Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade, for allegedly deceiving people out of crores of rupees through a fraudulent chit fund scheme.

Reports indicate that the accused operated a company called ‘The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited’, which lured villagers with false promises of high investment returns. Agents of the company reportedly convinced hundreds of people that their investments would double in a short time. However, after amassing crores of rupees, the company abruptly shut down and disappeared, leaving investors stranded.

The fraudulent operations had allegedly been active in Mahoba for the past decade before authorities took legal action. A case has now been registered at the Srinagar police station, and investigations are underway to uncover the full scale of the scam. Law enforcement has assured that further action will be taken based on the findings.

This is not the first time Shreyas Talpade has faced fraud allegations. Just last month, an FIR was filed against him and actor Alok Nath in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly cheating investors out of ₹9 crores. The complaint, registered at Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow, implicated them along with five members of a credit cooperative society in a similar fraud.

Additionally, the two actors, along with 11 others, were previously linked to a multi-level marketing fraud in Sonipat, Haryana. The case revolved around a cooperative society that operated for six years, collecting investments while falsely guaranteeing high financial returns. Reports suggest that Talpade and Nath actively promoted the scheme, adding credibility to the fraudulent operations.

Despite these legal troubles, Shreyas Talpade is set to appear in the upcoming comedy ‘Housefull 5’ alongside a star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Bobby Deol, and others.
