Rally Held At Guwahati To Create Public Awareness On Road Safety

 

GUWAHATI: In line with the World Remembrance Day for Road Accident Victims for those killed in road accidents, a motorcycle rally led by Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to create road safety public awareness was taken out from Kamrup Metropolitan district on November 20. 

A meeting was also held where the Minister highlighted the severity of road accidents and said that road accidents bring down the lives of not just one person but also one entire family. 

Road Safety Boards have been set up at state and district levels to prevent road accidents. He urged people to follow traffic rules, and not drive under the influence of alcohol. The doctors and health workers were appreciated in the event for the urgent treatment of the accident victims. 

The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, Transport Commissioner Robin Kumar Pradhan, and officials of various departments including the Transport Department, representatives of traffic owners-drivers associations, and several persons who lost their loved ones in the accident. The rally will reportedly cover all the districts of the state.
