GUWAHATI: Wednesday, August 7, promises to be action-packed as Indian athletes strive to boost the medal tally – stagnating at three bronze for a while now -- at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Mirabai Chanu, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, aims to replicate her success in the women's 49kg weightlifting category, where she will face strong competition from Chinese and Thai lifters.
Avinash Sable will compete in the 3000m steeplechase final, having qualified on Monday by finishing fifth in his heats.
Vinesh Phogat, who is already assured of at least a silver by entering the final, will be vying for the gold in her bout with USA's Sarah Hildebrandt in wrestling.
Additionally, the Indian women's table tennis team, fresh off their victory against Romania, will face Germany in hopes of advancing to the semifinals.
