Pan-India Emergency Number "112" Launched For Quick Assistance

 

GUWAHATI: In a recent move aimed at ensuring swift assistance during emergencies, the Government of India has introduced a pan-India emergency number, "112." This initiative, funded under the Nirbhaya funds scheme, seeks to provide easy access to police, fire and rescue, health services, and other emergency assistance to citizens, particularly focusing on women and children's safety.

This initiative aims to streamline the emergency response system and provide prompt assistance to those in need. The "112” Mobile App is available for download on both Google Play Store for Android users and the App Store for iPhone users.

The app includes a special feature called "SHOUT," designed specifically for women and children. This feature allows users to quickly activate emergency assistance in critical situations, further enhancing safety measures for vulnerable groups.

While the emergency facility provides crucial assistance during critical situations, users are advised to utilise the service carefully. The government emphasises the importance of using the emergency number responsibly and only in genuine emergency situations.
