GUWAHATI: The Guwahati police in an operation conducted at Betkuchi, Guwahati, seized counterfeit gold and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) along with apprehension of the individuals allegedly involved on December 26.
Acting on intelligence regarding the dealing and delivery of counterfeit gold and fake currency, a raid was conducted on the rented house of Golap Hussain in Katahbari, Betkuchi, under the jurisdiction of Gorchuk Police Station.
The operation resulted in the apprehension of the following individuals, along with the recovery of items, including a boat-shaped fake gold weighing 1.69 kg, 413 counterfeit notes of ₹500 denomination, totalling ₹2,06,500, and two mobile phones.
The apprehended individuals have been identified to be Sahar Ali aged 27 years, Jagir Ali aged 23 years, and Musfikur Rahaman aged 23, all from Lakhimpur.
Legal proceedings are currently underway as further details are awaited.
