Guwahati: The Saraighat Bridge will remain closed today due to its inspection.
The traffic will be diverted to the new Saraighat bridge which is expected to create a lot of jam in the area. Traffic police have installed dividers on the bridge to control vehicles overtaking other vehicles adding to the existing chaos.
Movement of vehicles during the trial run will be diverted via the new Saraighat Bridge which is a road-only bridge.
Movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted and will be allowed only after 8 PM.
It is to be mentioned that as many as 80 identified deck slabs of Saraighat bridge are going to be replaced in the maintenance work. Also after completing the slab, Asphalt layer will be provided over the entire bridge after replacing all expansion joints.
