GUWAHATI: A woman journalist became the target of an Ola rider when he allegedly abused her in the Sewali Path area of Hatigaon at around 1.20 PM on January 13.
The incident unfolded when the journalist cancelled the ride after another commuting service arrived on time at a reasonable price. However, the situation escalated when the rider used derogatory words and exchanged threats.
While sharing the unfortunate incident, the journalist expressed, "It was very disrespectful, the way he spoke to me. He even tried to follow me up till Rajdhani Masjid. It was then when I decided to file a complaint in Dispur Police Station."
While speaking to GPlus, an official from Dispur Police Station said, "A complaint was filed regarding the incident and we are looking into the matter. Indeed such incidents are increasing and the public is advised to complain immediately."
Thereafter, Ola contacted the journalist and promised strict action against the rider.
