OIL PSUs donate Rs 15 Crore for Assam flood

The Assam flood 2016 has been one of the worst natural calamities, with over 17 lakh people affected across the state. As part of corporate social responsibility, seven public-sector OIL firms donated a total of Rs 15 Crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief  Fund, on Tuesday. Senior officials of the state-run oil firms donated Rs 15 crore and handed over the cheque to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, an official release said. The seven oil firms are Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Oil India Ltd (OIL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), Gas Authority of India Ltd and Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL). Acknowledging the gesture, Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi, Minister of State for Petroleum and the oil firms for helping the people of Assam during this calamity.
