GUWAHATI: The state education department has waived off admission fees for students taking admission upto post graduate level whose parents’ annual income is less than Rs. 2 lakhs.
The higher education department has already issued an order in this regard. As per reports, all provincialised government colleges and six universities are incorporated under the scheme.

As per a government notification, “the aim of the scheme is access to the poor students of the state and to help them achieve the benefits of higher education.”
Further, the scheme will be applicable to the students seeking admission in first year of undergraduate or post graduate courses.
Regarding applicability, the notice mentions that the scheme is only for regular students having minimum 75% of attendance in classes with no back papers in previous examinations.
