New Aadhaar Mobile App Launched With Face ID And QR Code Verification

GUWAHATI: The new Aadhaar mobile application with Face ID authentication and QR code-based verification was launched on Tuesday, April 8,  by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Developed in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the app aims to enhance Aadhaar’s security, accessibility, and user control.

The AI-powered mobile application enables real-time identity verification through facial recognition or QR code scanning. This eliminates the need for carrying physical Aadhaar cards or printed copies during identity checks at hotels, retail outlets, or during travel.

"Aadhaar verification becomes as simple as making a UPI payment," Minister Vaishnaw stated on X (formerly Twitter).

"The app is 100 per cent digital and secure. Now with just a tap, users can share only the necessary data, giving them complete control over their personal information," he added.

New Aadhaar App Features:

- No more scanned & printed copies
- Stronger privacy
- No more misuse or leaks of Aadhaar data
- Protection against forgery or editing (like photoshopping your Aadhaar!)

The app is currently in its Beta testing phase, with nationwide rollout planned in the coming weeks.
