GUWAHATI: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar jail on Friday, May 10, after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail until June 1 in the ongoing money laundering probe connected to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy case.

After coming out of jail, he addressed a press conference on Saturday saying’ “CM post is not important for me. In the last 75 years in India, so many elections have taken place, AAP has won with most votes in Delhi. After winning with such majority, they know they can't win in Delhi. They instead decided to put Kejriwal in jail, so that my government falls. I'll give up 100 CM posts for the country.”

“Modi ji wants to crush Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)… he has a dangerous mission — of one nation, one leader. They will send all the opposition leaders to jail and manage all other BJP leaders and undercut them.”, said the AAP leader.

Continuing his attack on the BJP, he said, “It is my assessment that BJP is not forming the government on June 4… The INDIA bloc will form the government, and AAP will be part of that government.”

Kejriwal claimed that no other party has been harassed upto this extent in the last 75 years. Referring to PM Narendra Modi, he said that a dictator wants to end democracy in the country.

He added, “Whenever a dictator tried to take over, the people of the country uprooted him. Today, the dictator again wants to end the democracy….and I am fighting against that dictator, but cannot do anything alone.

I have come to beg from 140 crore people to support me in saving the country from this dictator.”

On Friday, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court granted him bail after spending over 50 days in jail following his arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement on March 21 in connection with the Excise Policy case.

Upon his release, he received a warm welcome from supporters and family members

While granting interim relief to Kejriwal, the top court observed that serious accusations have been made against Arvind Kejriwal but he has not been convicted yet. "Arvind Kejriwal does not have any antecedents and he is not a threat to society," said SC in the bail report.

However, he will need to surrender and return to prison on June 2.
