The situation, which could have escalated dangerously, was diffused when the man’s wife intervened and pushed him away, authorities reported.
The accused, identified as Prateek Sachdeva, a liquor businessman, was arrested after the victim’s family lodged a formal complaint.
According to the complaint filed by Karan Lohia, the father of the 12-year-old victim, the altercation occurred while his son was reportedly playing with Sachdeva’s son. Following the dispute, Sachdeva’s son reportedly ran home and informed his father, who then returned to the scene armed with a gun.
CCTV footage captured Sachdeva pointing the weapon at the boy before his wife rushed in and restrained him, preventing a potentially catastrophic incident.
Lohia further stated that his wife, witnessing the events from their sixth-floor balcony, screamed for Sachdeva to stop. He added that the episode has left his son deeply traumatised, making him fearful of returning to the park where the incident took place.
Sachdeva was arrested under the Arms Act and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita but was later granted bail.
