GUWAHATI: A man suffered injuries after falling from an adventure ride in Sitala Puja Mela at Lumding on Friday, April 4.

A group of people were unleashing their inner adrenaline junkie on a spinning adventure ride in the fair of the Sitala puja as one individual fell off the ride, through the harness.
Onlookers and locals rushed him to the nearest hospital. Initially thought to be dead, the victim survived with injuries. The locals and people present at the location caused a ruckus and vandalised the fair, damaging everything. The lack of safety, authority and proper measures were at fault for the incident. The incident occurred at around 7:50 PM.
Talking to GPlus, a bystander named Biraj Dey said, “He fell all of a sudden from the ride and we believe he died on the spot. The people then vandalised everything in the mela.”
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Lumding police station said, “The victim survived miraculously with some injuries. His name is Bubu Malakar, and after the accident, he was initially taken to Lumding Railway Hospital for preliminary treatment but has now been shifted to Hojai.”
