Man Detained In Chhattisgarh Over Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

 

RPF officials revealed that the Mumbai Police had provided the suspect's photo, train number, and location details, which led to the swift action

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained a man on Saturday, January 18, following days after Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Mumbai residence. The 54-year-old actor suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and near his spine, after an intruder broke into his upscale Bandra home.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Aakash Kailash Kannojia, was apprehended at Durg railway station during the afternoon. He was travelling on the Mumbai-Howrah Jnaneswari Express and was immediately caught after deboarding from the train's general compartment.

The detained individual was also reportedly travelling without a ticket.

RPF officials revealed that the Mumbai Police had provided the suspect's photo, train number, and location details, which led to the swift action. "The suspect was detained around 2 pm and is currently in RPF custody. He has been interrogated and has also spoken to Mumbai Police officials via video call," an RPF official reportedly said.

Earlier reports had arisen of another individual being detained in the case, but the police was quick to dismiss those, stating that the former was not involved in the stabbing incident.

A team from the Mumbai Police is on its way to Durg to confirm the suspect's identity. Further updates on the situation are awaited.
