GUWAHATI: In the early hours of Monday (May 29) a moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 jolted the Sonitpur district of Assam. The quake struck at 8:03 AM, sending shockwaves through the nearby region as well.
Residents in Guwahati also reported feeling minor jolts as a result of the shockwaves.
The earthquake's epicentre was located at latitude 26.68 N and longitude 92.35 E, placing it in the vicinity of Sonitpur.
The depth of the quake was estimated to be approximately 15 kilometres beneath the Earth's surface.
