The applicant can visit any priest from any local temple to receive the certificate and can use it to apply for citizenship on the official CAA portal.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had notified the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024, earlier on March 11, reigniting protests across Assam as opposition parties and protestors demanded a repeal of the controversial act.
