"Parents to take note,” the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shared an infographic on X. “Children are more vulnerable to hearing damage from gaming and loud sounds. Limit kids' screen time and gaming volume."

It further stressed the importance of simple steps such as safe listening practices and regular hearing checkups to prevent long-term hearing issues.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hearing loss occurs when a person cannot hear as well as someone with normal hearing. Although hearing damage can affect anyone, the risk is higher among elderly individuals above 60, those who listen to loud music using headphones, work in noisy environments, attend frequent concerts, take ear-damaging medications, or suffer from ear infections.

The theme for this year’s World Hearing Day is "Changing mindsets: Empower yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all."
