LiDAR Survey For Master Plan Done In 12 Towns Of Assam

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) survey was conducted in 12 notified towns in Assam for preparing the master plans.

“These twelve towns do not fall under red or yellow zone so it was possible to conduct LiDAR survey,” said a source in the directorate of town and country planning adding that the towns are Sivasagar, Nagaon, Bongaigaon, North Lakhimpur, Silchar, Tinsukia, Hojai, Barpeta Road, Golaghat, Mangaldoi, Nalbari and Dhekiajuli.

The source said that LiDAR survey is very expensive and conducting surveys in the 12 towns cost around Rs. 2.5 crore.

The source further claimed that as the master plan of these towns are based on LiDAR survey the municipalities will have access to the entire area and construction of illegal structures in these areas will be next to impossible.
