GUWAHATI: Guwahati police arrested Krishna Barman, the final absconding accused in Guwahati’s Boragaon rape case on Friday night, December 13. The suspect was hiding in the Golokganj area of Dhubri district.

This development brings the total number of arrests to nine, following the detention of another suspect named Robin Das on the same day. With Barman’s arrest, all suspects involved in the incident are now in police custody.
The incident had occurred within the premises of a Durga temple in Boragaon on the night of November 17, and came to the surface after a video of the same had recently surfaced online. The footage was immediately reported to the Garchuk Police by a media person, prompting immediate police intervention.
Led by Inspector Mayurjit Gogoi and Sub-Inspector Kajal Dutta, overnight search operations across Garchuk and Jalukbari resulted in the arrest of seven suspects on Thursday, December 12. The arrested individuals include Kuldeep Nath, Bijoy Rabha, Pinku Das, Gagan Das, Saurav Boro, Mrinal Rabha, and Dipankar Mukhiya.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed that one of the accused, an acquaintance of the victim, lured her to the secluded location where the crime took place.
Efforts are still underway to identify the victim and gather additional evidence of the incident.
