Know Assam’s Weather Forecast This Week

 

GUWAHATI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a press release forecasting the formation of a Low-Pressure Area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal around November 14. The weather system is anticipated to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal by November 16, 2023.

As of the current meteorological conditions, an upper air cyclonic circulation is identified over the south Andaman Sea, extending up to middle-tropospheric levels and tilting southwestwards with height. Under the influence of this system, a low-pressure area is expected to develop over the Southeast Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is projected to move west-northwestwards and strengthen into a Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal by November 16, 2023.

The forecast indicates the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall at many places over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, with isolated heavy rainfall over Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on November 17 and 18. Additionally, south Assam and east Meghalaya may experience isolated heavy rainfall on November 17.

Warnings:

•    Arunachal Pradesh: Dry weather is expected from November 13 to 15.
•    Assam and Meghalaya: Dry weather is expected from November 13 to 15, with light to moderate rainfall at isolated places on November 16 and 17.
•    Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram and Tripura: Dry weather is expected from November 13 to 15, with light to moderate rainfall at many places on November 16 and 17.
