Key Initiatives Unveiled For Socio-Economic Progress Of Mising Community

 

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a meeting on December 7 with various Mising organisations to address and strategise on the socio-economic, educational, and cultural advancement of the Mising community. 

The meeting focused on a range of key initiatives aimed at fostering comprehensive growth and empowerment. During the interaction, CM Sarma made several assurances to the Mising community, which include:

1.    Advocacy for Fund Disbursal to Mising Autonomous Council: Sarma expressed his commitment to taking up the matter of fund disbursal to the Mising Autonomous Council with the Union Government. This step is expected to enhance the council's capacity for socio-economic initiatives and community development.

2.    Introduction of Teaching in Mising Language: A noteworthy initiative is the plan to initiate teaching in the Mising language in selected schools. This move aims to preserve and promote the linguistic heritage of the Mising community, fostering cultural inclusivity in the education system.

3.    Establishment of a University in Jonai: CM Sarma proposed the establishment of a university in Jonai.

4.    Socio-Cultural Project in Gogamukh: To boost the socio-cultural prospects of the Mising people in Gogamukh, Sarma pledged to initiate a comprehensive project. 

5.    Construction of a Stadium in Kareng Chapori: Acknowledging the importance of sports and recreation, Sarma committed to the construction of a stadium in Kareng Chapori.
