Jharkhand Train Accident: 2 Dead, 20 Injured; Multiple Trains Cancelled

GUWAHATI: Two people lost their lives and 20 others were injured when 18 coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed early on Tuesday, July 30 near Jharkhand's Chakradharpur division.

The Howrah-CSMT Express went off the tracks near Badabamboo, approximately 80 km from Jamshedpur, at around 3:45 AM. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately after the derailment was reported, and rescue and relief operations are currently ongoing, as per reports. 

Railway authorities stated that the incident occurred after a goods train derailed and collided with the Howrah-Mumbai Mail traveling in the opposite direction. All injured passengers have been reportedly taken to Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur. 

In response to the incident, Indian Railways has cancelled five trains: Howrah-Titalgarh-Kantabanji Express, Kharagpur-Jhargram-Dhanbad Express, Howrah-Barbil-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express, Tatanagar-Itwari Express, and LTT-Express.
