GUWAHATI: An engineering student drowned in the Bhogdoi River on March 25, amidst Holi festivities.

The victim was identified as Arnab Kallor Borah, a final-year student at Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) who was pursuing his BTech. He had reportedly gone to the Bhogdoi River for a post-Holi bath along with his friends.
Media reports stated that while bathing in the river, Arnab suddenly disappeared. His friends immediately alerted the authorities.

In response, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was deployed to the scene to initiate rescue efforts. It took the SDRF personnel almost three hours to recover the body from the river.
