The inauguration ceremony was led by Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, Assam, who unveiled the slate. Speaking to the media, Borah termed the occasion as a "remarkable day" for the region's economic development.

“Today is an important day for business and industry in the Northeast. This new office will provide crucial support to local enterprises and play a key role in attracting new investments, ultimately boosting the region’s economic growth,” he stated.

Also present at the event was Nivruti Rai, Managing Director & CEO of Invest India, along with other executive members. Rai expressed enthusiasm about Assam’s investment potential, citing the state's hydroelectric resources and semiconductor packaging capabilities as key assets.

“The most intriguing aspect I encountered was LGBIA (Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport)—the welcoming environment is a major advantage for the state. In a previous meeting, I was impressed by the Assam Chief Minister’s vision, as he presented investment ideas with the mindset of a CEO,” Rai remarked.

She further highlighted that Assam has the potential to become an emerging data centre hub, reducing dependence on Bangladesh and Singapore for high-speed data services.

With high expectations, officials at the new Invest India Northeast regional office are optimistic about quadrupling productivity in the region and positioning Assam and Northeast as major industrial and technological hubs.
