India’s Kashmir Now Connected To Kanyakumari By Rail, Reveals President Murmu

GUWAHATI: Kashmir has now been connected to Kanyakumari via railway line with the completion of the Udhampur-Baramulla-Srinagar Rail Project.

This was announced by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, January 31, while addressing the joint session of Parliament on the opening day of Budget session.

Highlighting the Railway Ministry’s efforts, Murmu stated that the project marks a milestone in India's railway network. As part of the same initiative, the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, and India’s first rail cable bridge, the Anji Bridge, have also been completed.

The president further noted that 71 Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat trains are currently operational across the country.

Additionally, the allotment of houses to three crore families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) scheme was announced in Murmu’s speech.
