India’s First Vande Metro Rolls With PM Modi On Board; Renamed Namo Bharat Rapid Rail

 

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took a ride on India’s first Vande Metro services between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in Gujarat marking its flag-off on Monday, September 16.

The Vande Bharat Metro will be renamed Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.

The prime minister also flagged off several other Vande Bharat trains on routes including Kolhapur-Pune, Pune-Hubballi, Nagpur-Secunderabad, Agra Cantt to Banaras, and Durg to Visakhapatnam.

The renaming decision was confirmed by a railway spokesperson, signaling a new chapter in India's rapid transit capabilities. 

The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail aims to enhance connectivity between Bhuj and Ahmedabad, covering the 359-kilometer journey in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. The service is designed to offer a seamless travel experience, with a maximum speed of 110 kmph.

The train will halt at key stations including Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya, Sabarmati, and Kalupur (Ahmedabad).

Starting September 17, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will commence regular services from Ahmedabad, with tickets priced at Rs 455. This pricing aims to provide an affordable option for both daily commuters and travelers.
