Indian Medical Association Announces 24-Hour Nationwide Withdrawal Of Services From Aug 17 - 18

GUWAHATI: In response to recent violent incidents involving medical students and a severe breach of peace at R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has declared a nationwide withdrawal of services by modern medicine doctors.

This action is set to begin at 6 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, and will last for 24 hours, concluding at 6 AM on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The decision follows a brutal attack on students at the Kolkata Medical College and subsequent violent clashes on the eve of Independence Day.

During this 24-hour period, all routine outpatient departments (OPDs) and elective surgeries will be suspended. However, essential services will continue, and provisions will be made to manage casualties effectively.
