This initiative, modelled after the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), aims to strengthen the animation ecosystem in India.
The centre, located in Mumbai and operating as a Section 8 Company under the Companies Act of 2013, is intended to position India as a global content hub, enhancing its soft power and attracting foreign investments in the media and entertainment sectors.
The government will collaborate with industry representatives, including the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), to establish this institute focused on immersive content creation.
