GUWAHATI: 2024 saw approximately 172 billion UPI transactions—a 46% jump from 2023’s 117.64 billion. In December 2024, UPI hit an all-time high of 16.73 billion transactions, marking a significant leap in the country’s journey toward a cashless economy.

The transaction value soared to an impressive ₹23.25 lakh crore, up from ₹21.55 lakh crore in November, reflecting a growing reliance on digital payment platforms.
While UPI remains the frontrunner, Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and NETC FASTag have also contributed significantly to the digital payment landscape.
IMPS, launched in 2010, recorded 441 million transactions in December 2024, a rise from 407.92 million in November. Its transaction value climbed to ₹6.01 lakh crore from the previous month’s ₹5.58 lakh crore. Known for its 24x7 real-time payment capabilities across multiple platforms, IMPS continues to be a trusted option for businesses and individuals.
