“Smartphone PLI  breaks yet another record,” Ashwini posted on X. "FY25 saw the highest ever ₹2 lakh cr. smartphone exports in a fiscal.”

The minister also noted that this increase demonstrates India’s growing integration into global value chains. He added that the expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem is enabling Indian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to become key players in international supply networks.

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been identified as the key driver behind the surge in smartphone exports. Launched to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependency, the scheme has reportedly contributed to 99 per cent of smartphones sold in India now being produced domestically.

Apple has emerged as the leading contributor to India’s smartphone exports, accounting for nearly 70 per cent of total shipments. The company’s manufacturing partner Foxconn, through its facility in Tamil Nadu, has recorded 40 per cent year-on-year growth and handled nearly half of India’s iPhone exports.
