IIT Guwahati Rises In QS World University Rankings 2025

 

GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) has made a leap in the QS World University Rankings 2025, securing the 344th position globally with an overall score of 32.9. This advancement marks a 20-place improvement from last year's rankings.

Expressing his satisfaction with the institute's performance, Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, emphasised the need to address the challenges of internationalisation for further enhancement of the institute's global ranking. The QS World University Rankings 2025, released on Tuesday, June 4, highlight IIT Guwahati's remarkable rise of 257 places since 2014, when it was in the 601-650 range.

Among the various indicators, IIT Guwahati excelled in research citations per faculty, ranking 42nd globally. The institute also achieved a rank of 295 in employer reputation and 480 in academic reputation.

The QS World University Rankings, established in 2004, assesses institutes worldwide based on several parameters, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, international student ratio, employment outcome, international research network, and sustainability.

In the 2025 edition, 5,663 institutes were evaluated globally, resulting in 1,503 institutes being ranked. In India, 46 institutes made it to the rankings this year. 

Additionally, IIT Guwahati was present in 18 different subject categories.
