A high flood alert has been issued in Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Tinsukia as the Siang river water that was blocked due to a massive landslide in China's Yarlung Tsangpo River had overflown the block resulting in an unprecedented rise in water level.

The flood water is expected to reach Tuting and Pasighat after midnight today.

Six NDRF teams to reach Dibrugarh from Kolkata today to tackle any form of emergency.

Sonowal instructed the district administrations of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji districts, the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and other authorities concerned to remain alert and take necessary measures to mitigate the possible disaster.
