There will be no arm connecting Lamb Road or Handique College; both the landings will be on GNB Road

After the residents protested against the plan of cutting trees near Dighalipukhuri, the design of the elevated corridor connecting Dighalipukhuri to Noonmati (FCI Godown) has been changed. Now the elevated corridor will have two landings near Dighalipukhuri, and both on GNB Road.
A source in Public Works Department (PWD) talking to GPlus said, “According to the initial DPR of the elevated corridor, the vehicles plying towards Noonmati would have climbed the corridor from the eastern end of the Dighalipukhuri, and the vehicles coming from the Noonmati side would have got down at the west bank of the Dighalipukhuri near Handique College,” adding that now the plan has changed. He said as the corridor is a four lane one, two lanes will land just before the Lamb Road junction from where the vehicles going towards Noonmati can climb the elevated corridor.
“Two lanes will land opposite Dighalipukhuri (across what was Khao Galli) and the vehicles coming from Noonmati side will get down there,” said the source, adding that the elevated corridor will not have any arm for entering Lamb Road or Handique College.
Enquired about arms connecting Rajgarh Road and B Borooah Road, the source said that there will be provisions of constructing the arms connecting Rajgarh and B Borooah Road but as of now it will not be constructed.
The corridor will end near FCI godown at Noonmati.
The same contractor who constructed Maligaon flyover has been awarded the construction work order for the ₹852.68 crore elevated corridor.
The work order was provided to Shree Gautam Construction Co Ltd - Anupam Nirman Pvt Ltd (joint venture) on 11 November 2023 after transparent bidding process and the estimated time of completion given is 36 months.
“Not even a single tree near Dighalipukhuri will be cut for the construction of the elevated corridor now,” stressed the source and the part of the corridor from Chandmari till Noonmati will be completed by March 2025.
The Chandmari- Noonmati portion will be connected to the Chandmari flyover and there will be a rotary connecting the Chandmari flyover and Noonmati- Dhigalipukhuri elevated corridor.
The elevated corridor will have a width of 15.5 meter and the total length of the elevated corridor will be 5.44 kilometer.
This is the first time in the northeast that the PWD is using super lightweight high-grade concrete for the construction of the elevated corridor.
