Guwahati: Two Landslides Reported In Bamunimaidam Amidst Heavy Rainfall

GUWAHATI: On Friday, two landslides were reported in Guwahati's Bamunimaidam area, triggered by heavy rainfall and flooding that had persisted in the area for the past few days.

The first landslide took place in Akashi Nagar in Bamunimaidam, following the heavy flooding caused by continuous rainfall.

Mamoni Devi, a resident of Akash Nagar, reported damage to a section of her property due to the landslide.

Devi while speaking to GPlus said, "My family had constructed the road that connects to Akashi Nagar, and it has incurred partial damage."

Another resident mentioned that cracks had appeared in their house's walls due to the nearby landslide.

The second landslide occurred in the same locality, causing the guard wall to collapse. Fortunately, there were no casualties or property damage reported. However, in response to this incident, many residents chose to immediately vacate their properties.

One resident shared, "We have a soy milk industry, and we leased this land last November. After this incident, we have expressed our concerns to the owner, but no action has been taken, so we are vacating it immediately."

Local residents promptly reported both incidents to the relevant authorities, and further details are awaited.
