Guwahati to Have One of the Biggest Medical Facilities in India

GUWAHATI: The Assam government is formulating plans to merge the present Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) and the Kalapahar Hospital, which will make it one of the biggest medical facilities in the country.

The MMCH will be converted into an eight-storey super specialty. Meanwhile, the basic treatments will be done in Kalapahar, which will have around 500 beds. This was informed to the press by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

To reduce the distance between the proposed medical college at Kalapahar and the MMCH, three flyovers will be constructed to reduce the duration to eight minutes. The Sarabbhati flyover will be constructed as the first step.
