GUWAHATI: Shahid Udyan Park, on AK Dev Road, near Fatasil Ambari was inaugurated on June 25 but it has not been open to the public as of yet.
The park was inaugurated by Assam Housing and Urban Minister Ashok Singhal along with MP Queen Oja and GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarani.
Currently, the park is closed and as per statements by GMDA no dates have been announced regarding its opening. The recreational park will serve as a sanctuary for the children and residents.
Talking to G Plus an official from GMDA stated, "A local committee will be formed and the park will be run by them. GMDA has been given the responsibility to form the committee."
He also mentioned that there are a few pending works that need to be completed before it's handed to the committee.
The construction of the park started before COVID and the project was under the GMC but after COVID-19, the GMDA took over construction work.
Further details are awaited on the park as the residents wait with bated breath.
