Inaugurated on Saturday, April 19, the new surveillance system now includes facial recognition technology and behaviour tracking features to monitor movement and detect suspicious activity in real time. Officials said that the system is capable of identifying individuals and triggering alerts if unusual behaviour is detected, such as loitering beyond a specific time.

Additionally, the ₹1.3 crore project includes a centralised control room that monitors footage from each platform and corner of the station. The AI-enabled cameras can raise alerts automatically and allow authorities to respond promptly to potential threats.

To improve security, 20 panic buttons have also been installed across key locations on the platforms. These buttons allow passengers in distress to immediately alert the control room. Once pressed, the system transmits the individual's image and location to security staff for quick intervention.

Furthermore, each installed camera features an anti-tampering mechanism that detects attempts to obstruct or damage the equipment. Any such attempt triggers an alert and captures the image of the individual involved.
