GUWAHATI: An incident of day-light robbery was reported in Guwahati on Wednesday, January 19, where a worker of a gas agency was robbed outside a bank in the Lachit Nagar area of the city. The whole incident has been captured on CCTV camera footage.
The money belonged to a gas agency. The camera footage shows the robber waiting outside the bank and jumping on the depositor, attacking him with a knife and trying to snatch the bag of cash.
The depositor, Sanjib Medhi, was on his way to deposit the cash in the bank when two persons on a two-wheeler looted around three lakh rupees from him using sharp objects. The robbers were chased by local residents but were able to run off on a two-wheeler.
"The incident occurred at around 12 PM. I was bringing the agency's money to get it deposited in the bank. A person wearing a helmet attacked me with a knife in the gate. I fought with him for around 30 seconds, after which he cut my bag with his knife and took off," Sanjib Medhi said.
An FIR has been lodged in the Paltan Bazar Police Station regarding this matter.
