Guwahati Gears Up For Rongali Bihu: Most Happening Pandals In The City


Guwahati, known for its vibrant cultural heritage, is all set to embrace the joyous spirit of Rongali Bihu, with Grand Celebrations and New Additions this year. Let’s check out the most happening Bihu Pandals around the city.

GUWAHATI: With festivities spanning from April 13th to April 16th, the city is abuzz with preparations across various Bihu committees, each striving to make this year's celebrations grander than ever before. The Assamese New Year festival is almost here and the air of the already has this festive feel to it, with Guwahatians seen prepping up for the festival.

Latasil Bihu Function:


Among the oldest Bihu functions in Guwahati, Latasil is gearing up for its 73rd edition this year. With a budget of Rs 25 lakhs, the committee has planned a plethora of events ranging from indigenous dances to Bihu Samagri. Renowned artists like Krishnamoni Chutia and Montu Moni Saikia are set to grace the stage, promising an enthralling experience for attendees.


Beltola Bohagi Utsav Samiti:


The Beltola Bohagi Utsav Samiti is all set to host its 45th Bohagi Festival from April 19th to April 21st at the Beltala School ground. In addition to traditional Bihu celebrations, the committee will honor stalwarts of the literary and cultural world with prestigious awards. This year, the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Award will be conferred upon veteran actor George Baker, highlighting his contributions to Indian and Assamese cinema.

Ganeshguri Bihu:


The Ganeshguri Bihu committee has planned a three-day extravaganza from April 13th to April 15th. From quiz competitions to Krishna Zeng Bihu performances, the festivities promise something for everyone. Artists like Kamlika Kashyap, Krishnu Buragohain, and Jagran Mahanta, are set to captivate the audience with their mesmerizing performances.

Chandmari Bihu Celebrations:


The Pub Sarania Bihu Sanmilan in Chandmari will host a four-day programme from April 13th to April 16th. The celebrations will kick off with a flag hoisting ceremony by Kuladhar Saikia, former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha. With activities ranging from painting competitions to Zeng Bihu and men's marathon, the Chandmari Bihu promises non-stop entertainment.

Rajgarh Bihu Sanmilan:


Established in 1958, the Dakhin Pub Guwahati Rongali Bihu Sanmilan in Rajgarh continues its legacy of celebrating Assamese culture. With a budget of Rs 20 lakhs, the committee has lined up events like Jeng Bihu competitions and Bihu husori performances. Renowned artists like Priyanka Bharali, Surekha Chhetri, and Joy Mukherjee are set to grace the stage, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees.


In addition to the vibrant cultural festivities, there's good news for Rajgarh Bihu as well. Alongside the traditional celebrations, the committee has decided to host ‘Mr. Luit’ bodybuilding competition. This addition promises to add an exciting dimension to the festivities, providing a platform for fitness enthusiasts to showcase their strength and athleticism. With this inclusion, Rajgarh Bihu aims to appeal to a broader audience, celebrating both cultural heritage and physical prowess.



Brihottor Hengrabari Bihu Sanmilan:


The Brihottor Hengrabari Bihu Sanmilan will be held for two days on April 17th and April 18th. The first day will feature performances by young artists Rupankrita and Alankrita, promising a vibrant start to the festivities.
Cultural programmes like All Assam Bor Bihuwoti and Bihu Husori will also be held.

Bongaon Bihu Celebrations:


The Suruj Mukhi Suwali Bihu Husori Dol in Bongaon promises a unique celebration with an all-female lineup. Local female Jeng Bihu performers are set to showcase their talent, accompanied by instrumental music by Bhagyaram Terang. With a budget of Rs 15 lakhs, the Bongaon Bihu celebrations aim to spread joy and cultural fervor among the residents.
