GUWAHATI: The validity of all vehicular certificates that were earlier extended will be ending on 31st December. The transport department has informed that strict action will be taken from January 2021, especially against vehicles plying without pollution certificate.
Due to extended relaxations, vehicles releasing smoke and pollutants have become a common site in Guwahati.
R. Islam, DTO (Permit) of Kamrup (M) informed G Plus that the transport department has geared up to start checking for pollution certificates from January 2021. “We have already asked the pollution testing centres to prepare themselves. Vehicles whose certificates have expired will have to get a new one at the earliest.”
As per the transport department currently 38 permanent as well as mobile testing centres are active in Guwahati, where citizens can get their vehicles checked.
