GUWAHATI: In a recent incident, a doctor who was practising at the Hayat Hospital was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Uzanbazar area.
The victim was working as a domestic help at the doctor’s residence. The accused doctor has been identified as Jyotirmoy Deka who was residing in the Uzanbazar area.
Talking to GPlus, Miguel Das Queah, a child rights activist, said, "The child was brought from Tamulpur district and was employed at the house of the accused from the last seven months. From what I know, the accused would rape the girl child when his wife and daughters were not at home. On the 8th of December, the child hid on the terrace of the house and on 9th of December she reached Latasil Police Station. This is a clear case of aggravated rape on a child."
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Latasil Police Station stated, "The case was registered on December 9 and we arrested the accused on the same day. The FIR was lodged by the victim's family member and the accused is now in judicial custody.”
