GUWAHATI: Guwahati Crime Branch ADCP, Sukanya Das, APS, has been arrested in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scandal, bringing the tally of detained civil servants to four.
Previous detainees include Sajahan Sarkar, APS, Aoicharjya Jibon Baruah, APS and Assistant Employment Officer Rakesh Das.
Speaking to GPlus, the Special Investigation Team, headed by the ADGP of CID, Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed the arrest of Das.
The Assam Government, responding to the widening scandal, has suspended several civil servants.
Among the suspended officers, 11 belong to the Assam Police Service (APS), four to Assam Civil Service (ASC), one is an Excise Inspector, one Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Society (ARCS) officer, and three are Assistant Employment Officers.
