GUWAHATI: A man lost his life in an accident that unfolded on Tuesday, at the NH-27 while travelling towards Lokhra.

The incident took place when his speeding two-wheeler crashed into another heavy vehicle in transit at the aforementioned location.

The deceased has been identified as Dipankar Rongpi also known as Punk who is a resident of Forest Gate, near the Lokhra area in Guwahati.
There was also a pillion rider who sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The identity of the pillion is yet to be ascertained.
Speaking to GPlus a traffic official from Garchuk Police Station said, "The incident was reported at around 7:30 PM. We rushed the individuals for medical attention, later it was declared that Rongpi was brought dead and the pillion had been critically serious."
According to media reports, Punk is an upcoming cricketer from Guwahati.
