GUWAHATI: Guwahati, the cultural epicentre of Assam, is gearing up to celebrate Durga Puja in grand style, with each pandal attempting to outdo the other in terms of artistry and devotion. Among these, the Bhaskar Nagar Durga Puja pandal is capturing the essence of spirituality and grandeur with their towering Adiyogi Shiva-themed pandal.
The centrepiece of this year's celebrations at Bhaskar Nagar is a majestic Adiyogi Shiva idol, which stands tall at a breathtaking 56 feet. It promises to leave visitors awe-struck with its towering presence.
What sets this pandal apart is the enthralling light and sound show that will take place from 5:30 PM throughout the night. The ambience of the pandal will come alive with illuminations and reverberate with spiritual music, creating an immersive experience for the devotees.
Inside the pandal, 12 “jyoti lingas” await worshippers. These lingas will serve as focal points for prayer and devotion.
The committee has allocated a generous budget of ₹35 lakhs for this endeavour. However, in keeping with the growing emphasis on eco-friendliness and sustainability, they have chosen to employ materials such as jute, bamboo, and clay for the construction.
The light and sound show will include a Mahadev Tandav performance, accentuated by a laser display. This depiction of Lord Shiva's celestial dance, the Tandav, is expected to be a highlight of the celebrations.
The exterior of the pandal features intricate moving statues that span an impressive 150 metres. These animated displays narrate tales from Hindu mythology, allowing visitors to connect with the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region.
The Bhaskar Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee have also provided essential amenities, including separate washrooms for men and women. Moreover, they have gone the extra mile by incorporating a breastfeeding room for mothers.
As part of their focus on security, the organisers have installed 20 CCTV cameras both inside and outside the pandal. Speaking to GPlus, a member of the Bhaskar Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee said, "This year we are expecting at least 5 lakh visitors."
