The hostels were vacated after a violent clash between students, on September 27 in the wake of elections to the student union.

On October 7, the university administration issued a new notification addressing the concerns raised by the students and clarifying several points. The notification superseded earlier communications regarding the closure of the hostels.

Key points from the notification include:

* Power and water supply to RCC-1 and RCC-2 have been restored, and support staff has been re-deployed to ensure smooth functioning.

* Students staying in these hostels will be allowed to continue residing there after the Puja holidays upon presenting their hostel admission or re-admission pay-in-slips to the wardens.

* The administration clarified that any communication between wardens and Heads of Departments (HoDs) should not be interpreted as threatening.

* The Vice Chancellor has confirmed that there is no decision to change the names of the hostels, addressing a rumour that arose after a previous notification.

* The university will ensure the safe storage of belongings for RCC-1 and RCC-2 boarders in designated areas, as discussed.

* Disciplinary actions will be taken against those found guilty of the violent incident that occurred on the night of September 27–28.

* Hostel rooms will be inspected for any necessary repairs according to hostel rules.

The notification also mentioned that all university hostels, except those for research scholars, will remain closed from the evening of October 8 during the Puja holidays. A separate notification regarding this will follow. The university's response comes after days of student unrest, as many were upset by the abrupt closure of the hostels, which left them in uncertainty.
