GUWAHATI: The foundation stones for the Guwahati Ring Road and Kaziranga elevated corridor are set to be laid in January or February 2024, as announced by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari in Guwahati while addressing the media.
The central government has approved the proposal for the Guwahati Ring Road, allocating a budget of ₹6,100 crore for this ambitious infrastructure project.
The project is poised to transform the connectivity landscape of the region, effectively creating a six-lane road that spans 81 kilometres, linking Baihata, Darrang, Kuruwa, and Sonapur while connecting to the National Highway within Guwahati.
A highlight of the project is the construction of a bridge over the Brahmaputra River, connecting Kuruwa to Narengi.
Union Minister Gadkari emphasised the use of state-of-the-art technology, including ultra-enforcement concrete, for the construction of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor.
Further, it was also announced that a four-lane Mangaldoi-Tezpur Expressway would come up soon.
The projects aim to alleviate traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and provide a smoother commuting experience for the people of Guwahati and the surrounding areas.
