GUWAHAT: Five colleges in Assam have received final approval to begin the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) this year. This marks a crucial development in the state’s education sector, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The following institutions have been granted permission to start the four-year integrated B.Ed. program:
-L.T.K. College, Lakhimpur – 2 Units
-Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College, Nagaon – 2 Units
-Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko – 2 Units
-Rangapara College, Sonitpur – 2 Units
-Dhemaji College – 1 Unit
Alongside these approvals, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to three more colleges, paving the way for their inclusion in the program:
-Sipajhar College
-B.N. College, Dhubri
-Kokrajhar Government College
The ITEP program, introduced as part of the NEP 2020 reforms, aims to provide comprehensive teacher training by integrating undergraduate studies with teacher education, ensuring well-prepared educators for the future.
