GUWAHATI: A farmer lost his life after being attacked by a buffalo near the periphery of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on Monday, December 23.

The incident took place around 9:30 am at 1 No. Dhamkhunda village under Pragjyotishpur police station in Kamrup Metro district.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Ruplal Malo, was farming in a paddy field when the buffalo attacked him. Locals rushed him to Sonapur Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.
Talking to GPlus, a forest official from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary said, "The buffalo, which reportedly returned to the sanctuary after the attack, has been linked to several previous human-animal conflict incidents in the area."
A forest team, led by the Range Officer of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, visited the hospital and took stock of the situation. Efforts are underway to warn locals about the movement of aggressive animals near the sanctuary's boundary.
