The 81-seat Jharkhand assembly is witnessing a fierce contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance). Projections indicate the NDA winning somewhere between 42 to 53 seats, while the INDIA bloc, led by JMM, is expected to secure around 25 to 42 seats.
The BJP had contested 68 seats, with its allies All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) contesting 10 seats, Janata Dal (United) 2 seats, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 1 seat. The opposition coalition, led by JMM, fielded candidates in 41 seats, with Congress contesting 30, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) 6, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) 4.
The NDA’s campaign emphasised development, job creation, and welfare programs, with BJP leaders targeting Hemant Soren’s government over alleged corruption and governance failures.
Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan countered by focusing on tribal rights, rural development, and allegations of the BJP neglecting marginalised communities over the years.
